Journal Entries of a Running Novelist Going Nowhere Fast
Novmeber 11, 2008
I woke up feeling preplexed, confused actually. You know when you have an early morning dream, but it’s mixed with thoughts you had before you fell asleep? Well, this morning, I started having thoughts of moving out of our home (the one I share with my husband and our puppy), leaving the apartment spotless. Not a speck of dirt, cobwebs or lint is visible. I mean the house is immaculate. It’s been well over a week later, when we receive a call at our new home (new house has radiant floors and a 6ft. jacuzzi tub) from our old neighbor who details a bizarre story about squatters secretly moving in, without the knowlegde of the landlord. Our old neighbor believes them to be new tenants and believe they are such. They play this game for six months, until the landlord shows up and is stunned to find the apartment occupied by three men and their cat. The landlord immediately throws them out and has to redo the entire apartment, because she found a prespective renter.
It confused me, because I thought it happened, but wasn’t sure if it happened in our old apartment or the one we were currently occupied.
My husband and the dog are making out on his side of the bed. I’m slowly focsung my mind on the day ahead and what I need to work on for chapter two of this novel.
I’m going to run 7 miles and then write. First, I need coffee.
